Buyback Information
The spring buyback period is Wednesday, May 8th - Saturday, May 18th.
The UWM Bookstore, with representatives from a used book wholesaler, conducts what we call Book Buy. This is how Book Buy works:
- If an instructor has submitted a book
adoption and the UWM Bookstore needs
additional stock, you will be paid 40 - 50%
of the new price for the book.
- The UWM Bookstore resells the book at 69%
of the new price.
- Those books not needed by the UWM
Bookstore may be bought by the used
wholesaler at the national market value. This
price can range up to 30% of the new
price.
- Market value is determined by the age,
edition, supply and demand of the book.
Unfortunately, some books will have no market
value.
This is why final exam week is the best time
to sell back books because:
Demand is high and prices are the best!
The UWM Bookstore will buy back books daily
from students presenting a valid UWM student
ID.
- We purchase books for a used book
company. The dollar amount paid is based on
national market value of the book.
- Market value is determined by the age,
edition, supply and demand of the book.
Unfortunately, some books will have no market
value.
- You must bring your books to the
bookstore in order to get a value. We cannot
give out price quotes over the phone, because
we need to see the condition of the
book.
- We cannot purchase books with missing
pages, water-damaged pages, discolored pages,
or torn or missing covers. Also, many books
now come with CD's or computer disc. Most
often these are needed back when you sell
your books.
